THE CAPTAIN'S LOG
12:46 AM -- 2004-03-05
I retract my previous statement of March coming in like a lamb. My apologies, March. You really stuck it to me severely with that tornado threat outside my window this morning. Brash, merciless bastard. I found myself holed up in a makeshift storm refuge, the cat building a fort under the bed with throw pillows, and me doing the same with the bed matress against the lone window. A half hour before the power went out, completely isolating me from the outside world, and to my lack of surprise, not a single battery in the house. No the only way I could gauge the utter terror that was about to befall me was the lone window. Oh and it painted a gruesome picture too. At 11 in the morning the sky was black, save for the bolts of lightening threatening me with a sequel to the electricution that almost killed me in Tampa a few years ago. Storms are always funny this way. If you're a proper survivor, you'll stay away from windows, and the only way you'll see your attacker is when it rips off your roof and fucks you sideways with your own bedpost. I was sure this was exactly that kind of storm. A thinking person would've opted for the bathroom as a storm shelter, but I swore to myself years ago that I would not die next to a fucking toilet. If I were going down with this ship, it'd be barracading the door with my brother's vomit-stained mattress... not crushed to death with a porcelain shitter. My parents have a terrible storm kit, and I have every reason to think their lack of supplies was deliberate. Malicious scum actually wanted me victim to tornado violence, if not only for the sheer airtime they'll get on the local news. The storm actually lasted less than an hour... just long enough for me to completely lose my cool and make desperate peace with the allmighty. I suppose if I did have to say I learned something... it would be that I infact am religous, and god has a shitty way of getting his point across. It was a harrowing experience, indeed... however one I'll forget within a week or two. All is well now. The Ninja, is signing off.. Sa Da Tay.
