THE CAPTAIN'S LOG

Go Ask Alice

I read "Go Ask Alice" last night. Really good book. I think it should be required reading for every highschool student in health class. That and watching the movie "Requiem for a Dream".

If you've never heard of Go Ask Alice, its a true diary written by a teenager who falls into the dangerous game of drugs, and its tells a day by day account of the nasty realities of drug addiciton. I wont tell how it ends, but its overall a harrowing piece of literature. There was a movie way back in the day, and I think Shatner's in it, but nontheless... its one of those "Scare the shit out of kids, so they wont dabble with the devil's meds."

If we shoveled this into our children's mouths like sketti-o's... I think it'd definitely cut down on drug abuse as a whole. Movies and books like this would be a sure-fire way to weed out the silly fucks, and leave the drugs to the real dedicated users.

The main lesson I derrived is this: know your drug. If the narrator of the book knew about the physiological effects acid has on the body, she wouldn't popped it like fucking candy. Same with LSD.

Drugs don't kill people... ignorance kills people.

The characters in Requiem's demise was a result of getting caught up in smack. C'mon... its one of the most widely known facts about drugs... herion is ridiculously addicting, and the most deadly of drugs. I steer clear, personally.

I know, I know... Sarah Goldfarb got hooked on speed. I felt for her more than Harry any of the others because she didn't know what she was getting into. Jesus, that was a freaky movie.

"You on uppers, Ma?!!"

Its on tonite... best believe I'll be in front of that tube.

The Ninja, is signing off..
